Recruiting assistance from members of legendary German krautrock band Faust (Jean-Hervé Péron, Werner "Zappi" Diermaier, Amaury Cambuzat, Maxime Manac'h), Braden Diotte's "dementia tranquille" features brass, electric organ and orchestral percussion in a respectful celebration of the cessation of suffering that often accompanies the end of life.

“dementia tranquille was penned while on the road with Faust, in the days between their performance of "Outside the Dream Syndicate" at the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Tony Conrad’s passing from cancer a mere week later. Waking each morning with the residual accumulation of drums, drones and trumpets sounding off like an avant-garde version of "Taps" inside my head, nine distinct chords and rhythms ultimately evolved into nine distinct movements, and the piece essentially wrote itself on my behalf.”
